Above is a document containing items for inspiration for a ‘free choice’ writing piece, based on Ivan.
I’m really looking forward to what you create!
Here’s some work for today! Have a great day. I know you will behave in a way that will make me proud.
Any questions? Post them as a comment here and I will do my best to answer for you.
Today and tomorrow, we will be collecting some data and information to further our understanding of government and our world.
The task you need to complete can be found here: What in the World
When you are working, I want you to focus on:
Representing/sharing information in an appropriate/interesting manner using Explain Everything.
Collecting data to make mathematical comparisons.
You will use Explain Everything to present your data, however, as you are grade 6 students, you should be nearly ‘experts’ at using this app. Therefore, I am looking for you to be using EE for more than just presenting text and pictures.
In EE, you have the capacity to use audio/voice over, animation (making things rotate/move), filming your screen, adding music, videos, high lighting text as well as displaying text and images.
As you know, sometime this week, we will be having an assessment of our knowledge of addition and subtraction. I strongly suspect that this will be happening on Friday, however it may be earlier.
It is in your very best interest to be practicing your addition and subtraction skills.
I have set tasks for you on Maths Online to access- if these are too tricky or too easy for you, you can choose another activity from Maths Online that better suits your ability.
You can also use Hit the Button (http://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button)
You can access Maths is Fun (https://www.mathsisfun.com/numbers/index.html)
This is just the menu page for Number, choose addition and subtraction and then read through the page- click on the links, try the activities and worksheets.
You can use the Maths Trainer
Read the tips and tricks pages.
You also have at your disposal any number of apps on your ipad. Choose the apps that are going to be at your level. If you are a clever clogs, you should not being doing addition to 10.
The more you practise, the more likely you will be successful when we have our assessment!
Good luck everyone!
You may vaguely remember using these reflection prompts with me at the end of last year, when we had our final step up session… Or not. It was a while ago!
I’m posting them here for you, so you can use them in your Solar Boat Race Day reflection. If you look carefully, the statements nearly match with the different hats!
I will also add them to the reflecting page on my blog, so you can access them easily from there too!
Did having these sentence starters make it easier for you to write your reflection?
Also, I’m adding these reflection statements too!
Websites with some sentence starters for each hat:
Also, try an image search for Thinking Hats Sentence Starters!
I’d like you to write a blog post about our novel this morning.
A blurb/short summary of what the book was about- remember, you don’t want any spoilers for those who haven’t read the book.
Flick back through your original predictions from the cover of the book- were you correct/partially correct/incorrect?
Questions or wonderings that you had once we had finished the book- it was a bit of an abrupt ending!
Your answer to a Lit Sparks card from the red box.
Remember- we’re expert bloggers, your post should demonstrate this!
